On January 1, 2001 Constable Ken Jones initiated a K-9 Division for Harris County Constable Precinct 3's Department. Constable Ken Jones himself was a K-9 handler and felt a need for a drug detection dog for the community.

Precinct 3's K-9 Unit performs drug searches at the schools and at traffic stops when needed. They are also active in drug prevention and education at local levels as well as assisting other law enforcement agencies.
Corporal Almeida and Amor train on a weekly basis. Amor is certified annually as a drug detection dog.
Amor is certified by GTA-Global Training Academy, NPCA-National Police Canine Association and NNDDA-National Narcotic Detection Dog Association
