G.R.E.A.T. Summer Program
Each summer since 2005, Constable Walker has provided summer fun for thousands of Precinct 7 youth; this summer is no different. Walker says, "The G.R.E.A.T. summer program gives children both the opportunity to enhance their social skills and provide alternatives to negative street activity, while giving some structure to their summer months."
Middle school children, between the ages of 11-13 years of age, reap the benefits of this program. The aim of this highly structured program is to curb gang activity. Interpersonal communications, conflict resolution, goal setting, decision making and creating a healthy self image, are only a few of the areas explored during the six hour day.
