Cases mediated in this program include (but are not limited to):

CPS Mediation Video

Cases involving the removal of children from their home by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.

Typically, cases in this program, if unresolved in mediation, will be referred back to the court of continuing jurisdiction.

Most cases mediated in this program are referred to the DRC by the District Juvenile and Family Courts.

Cases may be scheduled for mediation by the court at the emergency hearing or at any time in the life of the case.

Mediations are conducted at the DRC offices and are scheduled during business hours.  All parties MUST be represented by legal counsel.

Whenever possible, mediations are conducted by a male/female mediation team.  One of the team members will be an attorney and the other member will possess an advanced degree in counseling or social services.

To schedule a mediation, call the DRC’s family department at (713) 755-8274.

The DRC provides these services in English and Spanish.
