Cases mediated in this program include (but are not limited to):

                Minor Assaults

    School Fights

    Parent/Adolescent

    Vandalism

Typically, cases in this program, if unresolved in mediation, will be referred back to the court of continuing jurisdiction or Harris County Juvenile Probation.

Most cases mediated in this program are referred to the DRC by the courts (typically Juvenile District Court) or the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department.  Some cases, however, are mediated at the request of parents, school counselors and teachers, or law enforcement.

Juvenile Courts and the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department refer cases by mail and those cases are typically scheduled for a mediation date within a week to ten days.  Other entities requesting DRC mediation services are encouraged to call the DRC for information on scheduling.

Mediations are conducted at the DRC offices and scheduled to commence at either 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, or 7:00 PM.  Mediations may be scheduled for business hours if more convenient for the parties.  All minor children MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

To schedule a mediation, call the DRC’s juvenile mediation department at (713) 755-8274.

The DRC provides these services in English and Spanish.
