JOB TITLE:               Juvenile Probation Officer - Bilingual

 

DEPARTMENT:        Juvenile Probation

                                    (Locations Will Be Discussed During Departmental Interview)

 

HOURS:                     40 Hours Per Week / Flexible

 

SALARY:                    $16.81 - $19.78 Per Hour

 Plus Mileage Reimbursement

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of full-time paid experience in casework, counseling, community, corrections, or juvenile agency that deals with offenders or disadvantaged persons.  MSW degree is preferred.  Earned intern or volunteer services hours where the duties performed were related to the field of Juvenile Justice may be counted towards the one year of experience.  Hours combined must total 1750 to the one year of experience

                                                            OR

BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of graduate study in criminology, corrections, law, social work, psychology, sociology, other field of instruction approved by the Commission.

 

JOB SKILLS:  A valid driver's license is required (upon request, may be required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (C.D.L.) Class B).  Must be ABLE TO EFFECTIVELY WORK IN Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word (Computer skills will be evaluated and scored as a component in the interview process); good oral and written communication skills; must be at least 21 years of age and have available transportation for use on the job.  Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Please note: job descriptions will be discussed during departmental interview.  Applicants submitting their application the following procedures will occur:

1)      You will not be allowed to choose positions regardless of the title, hours or location.

2)      Placement and work schedules (hours and workdays) will be determined according to the needs of the department.  Position requires working with dangerous/aggressive youths; should possess a high tolerance for working in an emotionally demanding/stressful work environment.

ALL NEW EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED TO UNDERGO AND PASS A PHYSICAL EXAMINATION ADMINISTERED BY THE DETENTION CENTER STAFF PHYSICIAN AND ALSO PRESENT EVIDENCE OF TB SKIN TEST PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

 

COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS OR COPY OF DEGREE REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION.

 

EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON PASSING A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.

 

POSITION IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.

 

SOME POSITIONS ARE GRANT FUNDED; REDUCED FUNDING COULD RESULT IN ELIMINATION OF POSITION.
