JOB TITLE: Senior Monitoring Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Community Services
HOURS: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday

Based on 26 Pay Periods
Plus Mileage Reimbursement
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.
EXPERIENCE: Must have strong background and experience working with Microsoft software including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access. Two (2) years of accounting experience to include auditing, grant and fund accounting and working with sophisticated accounting software within medium to large sized entities is preferred.
JOB SKILLS: A working knowledge of general accounting principles, grants cost principals and administrative requirements associated with federal grants is required. Must be capable of interpreting federal regulations pertaining to a variety of federal, state and local programs. The ability to identify areas in need of policy and procedure improvements is essential. Must be able to update, alter, design and re-design procedures. Good time management, professionalism, record keeping/organization, and documentation skills are required.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs a variety of complex grant and non-grant related accounting activities including financial, external and internal, monitoring of the department’s programs and its sub-recipients. Reviews and analyzes data entered in Housing & Urban Development (HUD), Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) and county financial systems. Compiles and prepares comprehensive management and financial reports. Communicates orally and in writing the budget and measurement outcomes and projections. Responsible for updating the department’s loan system, record keeping and monthly remittance of all HUD related recaptured funds and producing/providing reports to the Auditor’s Office. Monitors and assists in preparation of grant and non-grant administrative budgets and/or budget adjustments. Provides support and prepares financial reports to federal agencies. Reviews contract budgets and request for proposed budgets. Participates and/or writes financial policies and procedures. May assist or lead teams with special projects. Works efficiently under pressure and establish and maintain quality control over assignments. Will occasional travel to training events or meetings and off-site monitoring visits. Performs other finance, special project or accounting related duties as assigned.
