JOB TITLE:              Community Supervision Officer

 

DEPARTMENT:      Community Supervision & Corrections

 

HOURS:                     40 Hours per Week / Flexible / Overtime as Required

 

SALARY:                  $2,514.00 per Month

                                    Commensurate With Experience

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree conferred by an institution of higher education by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board; and unless the Bachelor’s degree is in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Corrections, Counseling, Law, Law Enforcement, Police Science, Pre-law, Public Administration, Rehabilitative Studies, Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology; the candidate must have one (1) year of graduate study in one of those fields; OR one (1) year of full-time casework, counseling, community or group work.

 

EXPERIENCE:  Two (2) years or more of experience as a State Certified Community Supervision Officer is preferred. Experience working with mentally impaired is preferred.

 

A Community Supervision Officer in Texas cannot be employed as a peace officer or work as a reserve or volunteer peace officer; and cannot be currently on community supervision, parole, or serving a sentence for a criminal offense.

 

JOB SKILLS: A valid driver's license is required. (Must obtain a Texas driver’s license before date of hire)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides responsible supervision to assigned probationers to ensure compliance with court ordered conditions thereby, providing a service to the Courts of Harris County, the community and the offenders. Makes outside, face-to-face and collateral contact with probationers as required. Conducts field-visits which require evening and weekend hours.

 

MUST PASS THE COMMUNITY SUPERVISION OFFICER STATE OF TEXAS CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION WITHIN ONE YEAR OF APPOINTMENT.  (Failure to pass test may result in termination.)
