EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology or other Social Sciences, Criminal Justice Counseling or related field is required.
JOB SKILLS: A valid driver's license is required. (Must obtain a Texas driver’s license before date of hire) Licensed Professional Counselor OR Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor OR Licensed Social Worker OR Counselor Intern OR prior experience working with clients on community supervision, is required.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Counsels all assigned cases which includes intake and orientation, counsels and holds clients accountable for program standards and individual contracts. Counselor also attends group counseling sessions, staff meetings; develops and maintains resources and prepares reports as needed. Shares ongoing resource development and review in staff meeting. Provides and maintains communications with other staff. Prepares progress reports of clients assigned to his/her caseload as well as other reports that might be required. Develops and maintains community and governmental resources/relationships; actively participates in professional committees and organizations. Orientates clients to program standards and services; develops and monitors client’s contracts. Provides counseling, crisis intervention and holds clients accountable for all services and contract compliance. Identifies and develops community resources and acts as liaison with outside agencies for clients. Uses Evidence-Based Practices in the execution of duties. Assumes case management duties for other staff in their absence or as assigned. Participates in disciplinary committees and submits recommendation to immediate Supervisor. Prepares violation reports relative to the discharging of the clients and assists the court by testifying when appropriate. Monitors clients’ compliance with orders of the Courts. Notifies the Court immediately through proper channels of any violations of community supervision. Performs other duties as assigned.
