JOB TITLE: Forensic Anthropology Post-Doctoral Fellowship*

HOURS: 7:30 am – 4:30pm
Monday – Friday/ Flexible
SALARY: $37, 368.00 Per Year
Based on 26 Pay Periods
EDUCATION: A Ph.D in Anthropology, with a concentration in Physical Anthropology is required.
EXPERIENCE: This is a training program, no experience is required.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Processes reconstruct and examines skeletal remains; casts and examines tool mark impressions; writes reports of findings. Constructs and disseminates unidentified decedent descriptions; reviews all $M hits; follows-up on all identification heads and request ante-mortem records; faxes fingerprint cards to various agencies; enters Justice Trax supplements; communicates with consulates, law enforcement agencies and media through formal letters and fliers. Collets and submit DNA samples from unknown decedents; audits case files for completeness; replies to missing persons inquiries via e-mail and by telephone. Assists with search and recovery of remains; processes of decedents for referral to the Harris County Bereavement Services for burial/cremation; contributes to the on-going research program of the division.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand or be seated for prolonged periods of time; lift 30lbs. (books, computer equipment and small devices). Stooping and bending may be required periodically.
