JOB TITLE:               Truancy Learning Camp Facilitator –PART TIME*

 

DEPARTMENT:       Protective Services For Children and Adults

TRIAD Prevention Program

                                   

HOURS:                     8 a.m. 4 p.m. Saturdays

                                                As Needed

 

SALARY:                   $14.04 Per Hour                                

Based On 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or related field preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE: A preference will be given to those applicants that have experience with Juvenile Probation or Children’s Protective Services or other work with youths, adolescents, and families.

Volunteer experience may qualify subject to certain guidelines.

 

JOB SKILLS: Knowledge of the Texas Family Code and related laws governing children/families. Must possess the ability to interpret these laws to youth, parents and others. Excellent case management and crisis intervention skills.  Working knowledge of effective group facilitation skills. Knowledge and understanding of adolescent’s issues and stages of development.    A good knowledge of county, city and other local resources.  Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms. An interest in the use of experiential education as a tool for working with groups.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Truancy Learning Camp Coordinator/Camp Site Supervisor, the Facilitator conducts workshop(s) for assigned youth and their parents/guardians/siblings. Assists with the set-up and breakdown of each day’s events, and administers all paperwork including: the registration of participants, pre/post test and written evaluation of camp participants.  Supervises and processes experiential activities while maintaining a positive classroom environment.  Other assignments as deemed necessary.
