JOB TITLE:               Specialized JPO Behavioral Specialist*

 

 

DEPARTMENT:        Juvenile Probation      

                                                Harris County Leadership Academy                   Katy-Hockley, Texas

 

HOURS:                     40 Hours Per Week/Includes Some Evenings and Weekends

                                               

SALARY:                    $4585.00 - $5218.00 Per Month

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION:  MS/MA degree recognized by the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related subject.

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE:  The successful candidate must have one year, post-master, direct clinical/counseling experience; experience in treating adolescents with delinquent behavior is preferred.

 

 

JOB SKILLS:  Must be a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA), (LPC) Licensed Professional Counselor, (LCSW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker or (LMFT) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with State of Texas certification. Knowledge of individual, group and family counseling with children and adults using cognitive behavior techniques; family systems theory/application; cognitive behavioral therapy theory/application social skills assessment and intervention therapy is preferred.

 

 JOB DESCRIPTION:  Conducts a strength based assessment and coordinate program relevant activities between staff and residents.  Participates in all appropriate cognitive behavioral training/consultations and engage indentified staff and residents as necessary.  Assists in identifying/resolving program engagement barriers; maintains clear and concise documentation of case involvement; participates in group activities as necessary and as directed; conducts individual, group and family counseling as necessary; provides crisis intervention as necessary and coordinates casework and treatment plans. Provides necessary training to staff as it pertains to the needs/assessment or behavior of youth in crisis.  Implements treatment planning, problem conceptualization, intervention implementation, outcome review and strategy revision procedure using cognitive analytic processes; provides coverage/service continuity to residents in the absence of fellow staff members.  Abides by all departments duties and responsibilities; po0licies and procedures; performs special duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Chief Juvenile Probation Officer or representative.     POSITION REQUIRES WORKING WITH DANGEROUS/AGGRESSIVE YOUTH; SHOULD POSSESS A HIGH TOLERANCE FOR WORKING IN AN EMOTIONALLY DEMANDING/STRESSFUL WORK ENVIRONMENT.  ALL NEW EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED TO UNDERGO AND PASS A PHYSICAL EXAMINATION ADMINISTERED BY THE DETENTION CENTER STAFF PHYSICIAN AND ALSO PRESENT EVIDENCE OF TB SKIN TEST PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
