JOB TITLE: Health Educator – Child Injury Prevention Project-Bilingual*

HOURS: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. / Monday – Friday
Occasional Weekend Work As Required
SALARY: Will Be Discussed During Departmental Interview
Plus Mileage Reimbursement
Based on 26 Pay Periods
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Health Education/Promotion, Public Health or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in coordinating and implementing health education and/or community projects is required. One year of grassroots experience working with volunteers, local business people, and community leaders for collaborative efforts is desired. Experience writing reports and other forms of communication, and entering data into database is desired.
JOB SKILLS: Bilingual oral and written skills in English and Spanish are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, data entry/retrieval and basic database development. Intermediate knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is preferred. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local and occasional in-state travel is required. Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills are required. Must possess the ability to operate various types of audio visual equipment. Knowledge of concepts of health education/promotion practices, educational theories, methods, assessments and evaluation is required.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists with coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the Tailored Injury Prevention Project (TIPP). Ensures project supplies/equipment at clinics is in stock and functioning. Updates health care provider training manual, as needed. Assists with the development of TIPP materials such as resource directories, flyers and presentations. Conducts oral and written follow-up surveys in English and Spanish. Prepares materials for mailing to program participants. Creates report documenting results of qualitative/quantitative data to include the pictures and stories from participants. Assists with training and coordination of community health worker(s) and assists with implementation of TIPP project. Assists in developing/providing logistical support for trainings, conferences, audio conferences, site visits, and meetings. Cultivates relationships with community-based organizations, agencies, corporations, civic leaders, and other potential partners to accomplish program goals. Provides support for community initiated child injury prevention initiatives and events. Updates/coordinates printing of local listing/directory of injury prevention resources available for clients. Provides presentations/trainings to stakeholders, communities or other appropriate audiences on program related topics. Provides administrative support to the Project Director and Project Manager/Coordinator assisting with grant renewal applications/reports. Position may require periodic overnight travel and long hours/overtime during emergencies/disasters. Performs other duties as assigned; including special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event.
