JOB TITLE:              Caretaker II

 

DEPARTMENT:      Harris County Precinct One

Parks - South Region

 

HOURS:                     40 Hours Per Week / Flexible

 

SALARY:                  Starting $10.00 per Hour

Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:  One (1) year of experience in grounds maintenance and operating mowing equipment preferred.

 

JOB SKILLS:  A valid Texas driver's license is required upon hire.  A safe driving record is also required.  Successful candidate must obtain a Texas commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B within three (3) months of hiring date.  Basic knowledge of grounds and janitorial care is helpful.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintains grounds, buildings, facilities and equipment in Precinct One Parks by performing the following duties: trims and mows grounds, weeds around bushes, trees, and flower beds; rakes, picks up and disposes of leaves and rubbish.  Also trims hedges and prunes trees.  Picks up and disposes of trash and litter throughout park.  Operates equipment used in park's maintenance work including manual and power/riding mowers, tractors, weedeaters, chainsaws, blowers and edgers.  Drive pick-up truck in park when assigned and drive to destination outside of park.  Repairs and paints benches, tables, playground equipment, and drinking fountains and assists with minor repairs to buildings and equipment.  Clean restrooms, sidewalks, buildings, equipment and floors.  Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and correspondence.  Writes routine reports and correspondence. Works outside in various weather conditions. Performs other related work as assigned. 

 

PHYSICAL: Stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouching or crawling for extended periods of time.  Good physical condition and agility needed to perform strenuous tasks under varying conditions.
