JOB TITLE: Assistant Inspections Supervisor

Based on 26 Pay Periods
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and five years of mosquito control experience OR A Bachelor’s degree and three years of mosquito control experience is required. One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
JOB SKILLS: A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required. Driver’s license record will be verified. Must be able to obtain a Texas Certified Pesticide Applicator’s License within one year of employment. Excellent oral communication and organizational skills are required. Successful candidate must possess the ability to write neat, concise and accurate reports, read/comprehend road maps, and supervise/motivate employees.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Supervises daily activities of personnel in the Thermal Fog section. Assists the Inspection Supervisor in supervising the Field Inspection section according to Harris County policies and procedures. Sets priorities and handles multiple deadlines. Monitors employees for quality of job performance and in safety/maintenance procedures. Insures that applicable tasks comply with federal, state and local regulations. Participates within the division as a part of mosquito control management team. Coordinates program investigations of high profile special projects. Handles disciplinary actions as required. Directly supervises the Thermal Fog Inspectors. Inspects for mosquitoes or other public health pest problems. Responsible for the calibration, dispensing and maintenance of larval/thermal fogging equipment/materials within the Inspection/Thermal Fog section. Records data collected in the field and enters into the computer. Uses pesticides in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Assess mosquito production based on potential development habitats and makes recommendations for control. Performs appropriate control measures to mosquito populations or other pests as required. Verifies employee’s attendance, field data and maintenance logs. Assists in the coordination of personnel in the field in absence of supervisor. Assists in employee scheduling of daily work assignments. Insures the records of the Inspection/Thermal Fog section are properly maintained. Safely operates equipment including boats, argos and related surveillance/application equipment. Calibrates larviciding equipment including the determination of application rates. Performs other duties as assigned; including tasks involved in responding to an emergency event.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires lifting at least seventy pounds and working under adverse environmental conditions.
