JOB TITLE:              Seasonal Mosquito Control Technician - Test & Evaluation

                                    Seasonal Inspector Operator

DEPARTMENT:      Public Health & Environmental Services

                                    Mosquito Control

HOURS:                     40 Hours Per Week / As Required

SALARY:                  $9.00 Per Hour

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods

EDUCATION: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.  

EXPERIENCE: Experience working with a mosquito control program is preferred.

JOB SKILLS: A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.   Driver’s license record will be verified. Successful candidate must possess data entry skills, and the ability to read maps while making accurate observations. Knowledge of general biology and basic math is required. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Assists in surveying for trap sites.  Sets and collects mosquito buckets, collects mosquito eggs and assists in insecticide testing.  Assist in setting up and breaking down of test site and equipment.  Works a flexible schedule to accommodate evening field tests.  Calculates the mortality rate of mosquitoes. Assists in raising mosquitoes and maintaining adults for testing.  Handles lab mice on occasion.  Sorts mosquitoes and loads test cages/dishes.  Assists in lab testing procedures and cleaning.  Assists in keeping laboratory and field activity journal up to date on a daily basis.  Performs data entry and keeps vehicle records as required.  Position will require learning testing and mosquito collection techniques. Performs other duties as assigned; including responding to an emergency event.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   Position will require lifting at least 50 pounds.
