Road Maintenance

HOURS:                     7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Monday - Friday

SALARY:                  $10.00 per Hour

Based on 26 Pay Periods

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years experience in general street maintenance and/or construction is required.

JOB SKILLS: A valid Texas Commercial Driver's License, Class “A” is required upon hire.  A safe driving record is required. Basic knowledge of general street maintenance techniques, materials, tools and equipment. Usage and care of all tools, equipment and vehicles used for this position is essential.  Must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance procedures.  Must be able to demonstrate basic mathematical skills; using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance. Good oral and written communication skills are required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Dumps, shovels, spreads, rakes, and rolls asphalt with pneumatic roller.  Patches broken or eroded pavement and fills depressions.  Flags traffic and sets culvert pipe. Cleans/repairs drainage ditches and storm sewers. Drives pick-ups and dump trucks.  Operates grad-alls, tractors, front-end loaders and pneumatic rollers. Operates jack hammers and concrete saws. Uses shovels and rakes.  Picks up trash along roadways and right-of-ways. Occasionally climbs/balances and lifts 10-50 lbs.  Perform other duties as required.
