JOB TITLE:              Operator

 

DEPARTMENT:      Precinct One

                                    Road & Bridge - Mowing Crew

 

HOURS:                     7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

                                    Monday - Friday

 

SALARY:                  $10.00 per Hour

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or G.E.D.

 

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years experience in roadway mowing and trash removal is required.

 

JOB SKILLS: A Texas Commercial Driver License Class “A” is required upon hire.  The skill to read and interpret safety rules and operating and maintenance procedures is required.  Must have basic knowledge of roadway mowing techniques, tools and equipment; as well as the ability to use and take care of the equipment used for mowing.  Good oral and written communication skills are required. Must be able to write simple correspondence, demonstrate basic mathematical skills; using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Cleans ditches and culverts of brush, trash and rubbish.  Trims branches and bushes, which overhang county roadways and rights-of-way. Picks up trash along roadways and rights-of-way. Drives pick-up trucks to transport crew and equipment to work sites. Drives tractors with mower attachment to cut grass along roadways and rights-of-way. Operates slope, wing and bush-hog mowers. Uses shovels, rakes and weed-eaters. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL: While performing these duties, employee stands, walks, uses hands, handles tools or controls; reaches with hands and arms and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls.  Climbs or balances. ENVIRO: Regularly works near moving mechanical parts in and outside weather conditions and exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

 

 

EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON PASSING A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.

 

POSITION IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.
