The Mobile Data Terminals used by Harris County law enforcement agencies and qualified law enforcement agencies aid them in the performance of their official duties.  By utilizing the Zclient interface software, installed on various types of laptop computers connected via Vehicle Radio Modems or aircards, officers are able to check Drivers Licenses, Identification cards, License Plates, Guns and Articles through NCIC, TCIC, and SETCIC databases. The System offers unit-to-unit messaging between Harris County MDT users and other agencies MDT users , including all Houston Police Department MDC units.

Harris County offers GPS tracking of all MDT units with Trimble GPS equipment installed.

Wireless High Speed Broadband access to the Harris County MDT system is currently available through the Verizon Wireless Network and  ATT cingular wireless.

1. Customers must have a valid standard "Inter Local Agreement" with Harris County.
2. All computers are required to be 100% free of Viruses, Trojans, and Worms.
3. All computers must have Windows User log-on & Password.
4. All computers must have anti virus software. (we offer this free)
5. All computers must have Windows XP professional only. (vista not supported)
6. All computer should be free of software or hardware defects.
7. Customers shall supply any and all passwords to access the computer.
8. Customers shall backup all valuable Information off the notebook prior to delivery.
9. Air cards must be RESTRICTED internet access. (internet provided by harris county)
10. Air cards must have a STATIC IP address.
