Current Records Center Set-up

Our Mission:

The Harris County Records Center opened its doors in 1989. It is designed and equipped specifically for the storage of inactive county records. The Records Center's mission is to assist Harris County agencies in effectively managing public records from creation to disposition and to ensure the preservation and accessibility of those records. Our goal is to provide dependable, efficient and cost effective services for all.

The Harris County Records Center is located at 4625 Crites Street. It consists of 120,000 cubic feet of climate-controlled records storage space. The Records Center provides pick-up, storage, and delivery of inactive records for any Harris County department that chooses to utilize its service. These services are provided to any County agency at no charge. Records are maintained in the Records Center for the required retention period, ranging from six months to permanently.

The Harris County Records Center only serves Harris County agencies; therefore we cannot process requests from the public.
